Morristown’s pivotal role in the success of the Revolutionary War has long been overshadowed in our history classes by Valley Forge. But an eye-opening documentary called Morristown: Where America Survived, based on noted New Jersey historian and Drew alumnus John T. Cunningham’s book—The Uncertain Revolution: Washington and the Continental Army at Morristown—reveals how the encampment helped bring the army to victory.
Filmed on location at Morristown National Park, the 30-minute, NJN-produced documentary relied on another Drew alumnus, Revolutionary War re-enactor Steve Santucci C’97, who helped with site selection, coordinated the film’s re-enactors and appears onscreen in multiple scenes.
Clear your calendar for the NJN (February 22-23) and national PBS (March 1) broadcasts. Or if you can’t wait, view the entire film online.—Samantha Pritchard C’10, Drew Magazine intern
